Vegan Action Campaigns Update
VEGAN ACTION CAMPAIGNS UPDATE
We have created a strong presence for our volunteer run organization. Data is for 2003.

With over 3 million hits per year, we have developed one of the most visited vegetarian websites and are expanding it to be more interactive and informational.
We provided over 300 college students all over the world with information and assistance in making their dorm cafeterias more vegan friendly.
We certified vegan products for over 80 companies—helping vegan consumers and encouraging companies to continue to cater to the needs of vegetarians and vegans.
We corresponded via e-mail with hundreds of people in need of information on a cruelty-free lifestyle.
We traveled to New York, Florida, New Jersey, North Carolina, Georgia, Maryland and all over Virginia sharing information on an animal-free lifestyle.
Our volunteers hosted tables and handed out literature at 24 eventsreaching thousands of people at each event.
We reached hundreds with our informative library displays on vegetarianism.

With your help we will continue our campaigns and work to consistently provide support and information to better benefit the animals, the environment, and our health. Please consider making a donation to help us continue our vital programs. For other ways you can help support our efforts, click here.

Cranberry Apple Crisp
Ingredients:
5 medium Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored, and sliced in fourths.
16 oz of fresh cranberries or 1 16 oz can of whole berry cranberry sauce
  3/4 cup sugar

2 tablespoons flour

Topping
  1/4 cup walnuts, finely chopped

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  1/3 cup flour
  1/4 cup vegan margarine

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Preheat oven to 375 F. Place sliced apples in a 9"x13" pan.

If using fresh cranberries, put 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, and 16 oz of fresh cranberries in a sauce pan and bring to a boil until cranberries "pop." Cool for 10 minutes.

Combine cranberries, sugar, and flour in a bowl. Toss mixture in with apples.

Combine nuts, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, and margarine in a bowl. Sprinkle evenly over apple cranberry mixture.

Bake for 30-40 minutes or until top is golden brown and fruit is tender.

Krissi's Corner
Krissi's Corner- October 2006

Exciting news around the Vegan Action office:

Thanks to a generous grant from NALITH and Vegan Action supporters, we have launched a billboard campaign that includes several fantastic bus ads that are running on buses in our hometown, Richmond, Va. Additionally, we have launched the website VAVeg.org as a companion to the ads. The website also serves as a vegetarian guide to Virginia. The campaign will eventually be expanded to other cities around Virginia.

You can help spread the message by making a donation today to help us purchase more ad space and expand our outreach campaigns.

Krissi in the news:

Vegan Action's Executive Director, Krissi Vandenberg, talks to Vegan Street's Marla Rose about VA's campaigns, positively oriented activism, informing others about veganism by being a good example and more. Click here to read this vegan inspiring interview.
